Tommy successfully competed in the Chicago Triathlon on August 30th with his friend, Bear. They outdid themselves by completing the International distances and not the sprint. This means they started with a 1.5K swim in Lake Michigan where the water temperature was about 60 degrees, biked 40K north along Lake Shore Drive and then ended with a 10K run. They did great and Tommy finished in about 3 hours.
We were able to cheer them on along the route which was a lot of fun. Although it sometimes looked like self torture, it is a wonderful accomplishment and we couldn't be more proud of them!
If you notice, there is no Big Will in the pictures. My parents flew in to VA again and stayed with him while we were away for a long weekend. Originally when we made our reservations, we were supposed to be spending a lot of time with the home builders design team (but that all changed last minute - long story) so we were toddler free. I must admit, it was strange not planning naps, meals/snacks, pushing strollers. Knowing that he was safe and having a blast with his Grandma and Papa, Tommy and I had a great time on our getaway weekend. Who knows when that would happen again with baby boy #2 arriving soon.
While the guys were getting briefed on the course rules, Erin was getting proposed to by Ronald himself.
